I haven't check my Twitter notifications since yesterday, and just now, noticed a message to me from Midweek Cycling Club of Toronto...
The cool thing is, besides asking me, 'how about a trip to Toronto for the World Premiere of MARINONI.' It's the anticipation of this documentary on the famed frame builder, Giuseppe Marinoni. Notice my surprise reply. Anyways, Hotdocs is a Canadian International Documentary Festival and here's a brief description on the upcoming doc...
Giuseppe Marinoni is a revered bicycle craftsman whose frames are highly admired and desired. When he's not in his workshop, he's likely feeding his chickens, tending his tomatoes or foraging for mushrooms. It's clear this tailor turned cyclist is happy alone and sees no point in someone documenting his life. But as a 75-year-old Marinoni attempts to set a world record for distance cycled in one hour for his age group, he begrudgingly allows his training to be recorded (though he continually questions and tests the crew). Slowly, a reluctant relationship between filmmaker and subject develops while Marinoni nears his record-setting goal. Perhaps this aging perfectionist respects director Tony Girandin's iPhone and it's ability to translate Italian phrases. One can't help but admire the zeal of this charming curmudgeon, making this a life-affirming character study of a rare artist.

The doc will be presented by Midweek Cycling Club and will be screened on April 25, 27 and May 3. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find a trailer online and perhaps someone can?
I'm hoping, and I'm sure many west coast cycling enthusiasts are, that this timely Marinoni doc will eventually past our way. Cross my fingers. And, by the way, thanks to Midweek Cycling Club for the tweet.
