Exploring is fun. That's what I did on my morning's ride. The Ottawa Valley is a huge area (6 million acres) packed with many roads to ride. Thankfully, the roads I choose to stay on are service roads and primary quiet. At times as I look down the road, ahead and behind me there's not a soul. The odd car/truck/tractor breaks up the surreal quietness, something I'm still getting used to. It's anything like Vancouver traffic. McCordick Road is yet another quiet rural road, with a slight difference. It's basically flat roads here except this 2-lane road had a difference; a nice climb (again to break the monotony) surrounded by a beautiful cathedral of trees to break the heat. I've already penciled it as my favorite road.

The Southern Ontario Valley is wonderfully diverse agricultural region. I'm enjoying the locally grown peaches, corn and white potatoes - the most delicious I've ever eaten. On my ride I passed endless cornfields, a family of grouse and cool farms; dairy, goats and even alpacas. A fun way to break the monotony.

Pierces Corners

After this morning's ride I enjoyed watching the exciting Olympic women's MTB race.
Catharine Pendrel crashed earlier on and fought back like a demon for the Bronze!
